Physics Traditional: Unit 05 "Work, Energy & Power"

05- Work, Energy & Power
Summary: You pay the Power Company for power, right? Wrong! You pay for the energy you consume, not power. A lot of people would say we use a lot of power so our power bill is high. These people don't really understand the difference between power and energy. After this unit, you won't be one of those people any longer. You will learn about conservation of energy and different energy types like mechanical energy, gravitational potential and kinetic energy. You will learn about the kind of work your brakes do in a car. You will also see how much energy costs you locally and look at a recent power bill to make realistic computations on how much energy you consume by leaving a light on, etc. And finally, maybe, just maybe, you will even survive the "Ball O' Death"!
