Summary: Has a stationary wall ever pushed you? How about a stationary floor? It will be my job in this unit to convince you they both have…..Now that we know about motions vectors, let's use that knowledge to understand force vectors. We'll also learn about our friend friction. Without friction everywhere you tried to walk would be like slippery wet ice and your car could never turn, slow down or speed up without a collision! If you're winning a tug of war, does that mean you're pulling harder on the rope than your opponent? The answer will probably surprise you! You know that earth pulls on you with a gravitational force equal to your weight, but did you know that Newton's third law says you pull just as hard on the earth as it does on you? It also says that you can hit a piece of paper just as hard as the strongest boxer in the world!
